A Bible alarm clock · Android now, iPhone next

Wake to the Word.

The Morning Manna app is a Bible alarm clock. When your alarm goes off, a chapter of the Bible is already being read to you, by a real narrator, word for word. One chapter a day, picked for you. Before the feed, before the inbox, before anything.

Word for wordThe Berean Standard Bible, read exactly as written.

This is what wakes you.

Three soft chimes. A gentle background sound. Then a real narrator, Bob Souer, reading a whole chapter, never in a hurry. This is Psalm 23, the whole chapter, just as the app plays it.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.Psalm 23:1–2

Turn your sound on. The chimes are quiet on purpose. The first seconds of a morning shouldn't be a jolt.

Set it once. Wake to it every morning.

Nothing to choose at night. Nothing to open in the morning. The chapter comes to you.

1

Set your alarm

Pick a time and the days you want. That's it.

2

Wake to a chapter

At your alarm time, the day's chapter starts reading out loud. Listen, snooze, or just let it play. You don't have to do anything.

3

Keep it, morning by morning

Every chapter you wake to goes into your library. Month by month, it becomes a record of every morning you started with God's Word.

Dim on purpose, so it never blinds you at five.

Real screens from the Android app. Warm, dark and quiet, made to be looked at with half-open eyes.

Less phone, not more.

Every Bible app waits for you to open it. By the time you do, your phone already has your morning. Morning Manna doesn't wait. It happens to you at 6:30, then gets out of the way. You can get through a whole morning without tapping anything.

It is also small on purpose. There are plenty of places to listen to the whole Bible. Morning Manna gives you one chapter a day, so you can really sit with it, think about it, and let it sink in. No plans to pick, no streams, no badges, no store. Just the Word, first thing, and a verse from it on your home screen all day.

Today's verse widgetNew

A verse from the morning's chapter on your home screen, changing through the day. The Word you woke to stays with you. Nothing to open, nothing to dismiss.

Read along

Every chapter comes with its full text. Read while you listen, or come back to it later.

Journal

A private place for a few lines about the morning's chapter. Star the ones that stay with you. It stays on your phone unless you choose to back it up.

Your week

Five days, one ring for each morning you listened to the chapter. Miss one? You can go back and catch it. It's there to encourage you, not to keep score.

Your Journey

Every book you've touched, and how much of the Bible you've heard so far. It fills in slowly. That's the point.

Library

Every chapter you've been given, kept. With Premium you can save favourites and listen any time.

Backup, if you want it

Turn it on and your streak, your Journey and your Library survive a lost phone. Your journal too, with its own switch. Off by default, free on every plan. You sign in once, so a new phone can find your backup. We never use your email for marketing.

Weekends rest

Saturday looks back at the week. Sunday rests and shows the week ahead. Weekend alarms replay a chapter from the past week, so the morning still starts with the Word.

Groups

Wake to the same chapter as your church, family or study group. Your leader can add a word for the day, and pick extra chapters just for the group. Share a thought, say Amen. The group sees how many listened, never who.

The alarm is never silent.

An alarm you can't trust isn't an alarm. Morning Manna has four layers, so 5 a.m. depends on nothing but your phone.

1
Chapters download ahead of time

Whenever you open the app, it fetches the days ahead. The morning's chapter is already on your phone. No signal needed.

2
A real alarm, not a notification

It uses your phone's own alarm system, the same one your clock uses. So it rings through Do Not Disturb, on a locked screen, at your volume.

3
Wake-up safeguards

Phones sometimes put apps to sleep to save battery. Setup asks your phone, once, to keep Morning Manna awake, and tells you exactly what to tap if yours needs more.

4
Something always plays

If a chapter can't reach your phone, one you already have plays. And under everything, a passage of Scripture is built into the app itself. The alarm has never had nothing to say.

Your inner room — and where two or three gather.

Morning Manna is built for two kinds of time with the Word. It keeps them apart on purpose.

But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen.Matthew 6:6

The alarm is your inner room

Nobody sees whether you woke, what you heard or what you wrote. No share buttons, no leaderboard, nothing to show off. The morning is between you and God.

For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.Matthew 18:20

Groups are your gathering

The whole Morning Manna community wakes together, around the world, to the same chapter. Groups make it your own. A pastor, a study leader or a parent starts a group. Others join with a code. On the Morning Manna side, the leader adds a short word on the day's chapter. On the Our group side, the leader picks extra chapters just for the group — the book you're preaching through, or Sunday's reading — with a note for the week. Members share a thought underneath and answer with an Amen. The group sees how many listened, never who. It supports the community you already have without becoming a feed. Joining is always free.

Why the free plan isn't a trial. Most apps give you everything for a week, take your card, and hope you forget. Here, the free plan is simply the app. No card, no account, no day eight. Use it for as long as you like. If the Word every weekday becomes part of your mornings, choose Premium then. Its seven-day trial runs through Google Play, which shows you the end date before you confirm and lets you cancel in one tap. “In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Matthew 7:12)

Giving back, together

Part of what Morning Manna earns goes to good causes, and the community helps choose where. That happens through our giving newsletter. It's a separate, optional sign-up, never tied to the app. There you can:

  • suggest causes we should look at,
  • vote on where each round of giving goes, and
  • read what was given, to whom, and what it did.
The giving newsletter opens soon. Want a note when it does? Email us — one message, no list. In the app you'll find it under Profile → Charitable giving.

Before you install

Does it need an internet connection in the morning?

No. Chapters download ahead of time whenever you open the app, up to two weeks ahead. The alarm plays from your phone and never waits for a signal.

Will it really wake me if my phone is locked, or on Do Not Disturb?

Yes. Morning Manna uses your phone's own alarm system, the same one the built-in clock uses. It rings on a locked screen and through Do Not Disturb. During setup it asks your phone to keep the app awake, and shows you what to tap if your battery settings need a hand. If a chapter can't reach your phone, the alarm plays one you already have. It is never silent.

Which Bible is it?

The Berean Standard Bible, a modern translation that is free for anyone to use, read word for word. Whole chapters, nothing shortened. Every chapter comes with its text so you can read along.

What's free, and how does the Premium trial work?

The free plan needs no card and no account, and it never ends. You get a new chapter every Monday, alarms, read-along, the journal, your week and Journey, the widget, backup and joining groups. Premium adds a new chapter every weekday, favourites and leading a group. When you choose Premium, Google Play offers new subscribers a seven-day free trial. Play shows the end date and the price before you confirm. Cancel before then and it costs nothing. Cancel later and you keep every chapter you have, and go back to the free plan.

Do I need an account?

No. The app works fully with no sign-in. Backup is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, you sign in once, so a new phone can find your backup. We use your email only for signing in and account messages, never for marketing. Our giving newsletter is a separate sign-up you choose on your own.

Can I choose which chapter I wake to?

No, and that's on purpose. Morning Manna gives everyone one chapter each weekday, so a whole church is on the same page by breakfast. Weekend alarms replay a chapter from the past week. Any chapter you have can be played any time from your Library.

Is there an iPhone version?

Android first. The iPhone version is in development. If you'd like to know when it's out, write to contact@morningmanna.app.

Can the verse widget go on my lock screen?

On Android the Today's verse widget lives on your home screen. Some phones let you put home-screen widgets on the lock screen too, but many, Samsung's included, don't. So we don't promise it.

I can't find it on Google Play.
